Meet the Inklings

Poe Kafka Christie Herman Brontë

Poe, Kafka, Christie, Herman & Brontë — five bookworms, each named for a great author. Their motto: laugh and learn.

Our founding tenet
We do not help children discover their gifts so that they might become worthy. We help them discover their gifts because they already are.

Inklings Book Club grew out of the Inklings Book Club newsletter and the animated series from Mr. Bray Labs. Our founder grew up homeless and dyslexic — a small library was his sanctuary. That is the whole mission.

How it works

Play, read, and get pulled back to the library.

Kids start reading in seconds — and every path leads to a real book, a real library card, and a real library.

Start instantly

A provisional card gets kids reading right away — then converts to a real library card at their local branch.

Read & adventure

100 classic books wrapped in a Duolingo-style learning adventure that scaffolds curiosity toward the real thing.

Find your library

Enter a ZIP and discover local libraries, hours, events, and exactly how to get a card.

Scan your shelf

Scan physical books onto a personal digital shelf — "Goodreads for kids" — and pick up right where you left off.

The cast

Bookworm friends who live in the attic.

Each one named for a great author. Tap a bug to discover their favorite food and book. Their motto: laugh and learn.

Our promises to families

Sticky, not tricky.

No ads, ever

We will never run ads or use manipulative, addictive mechanics. Encourage, never belittle.

Kids stay private

We never sell, exploit, or surveil children's data. Kids stay pseudonymous — the library is the trust anchor.

Reading is never gated

We never put reading behind a paywall. Free for kids, built to create new readers — not downloads.

Is your library on the map?

Every library climbs the same three rungs. Rung one is free and takes about five minutes — just say the word.

Rung 1 Listed

Your library on the map. Library cards validate at your branch, and your community starts reading.

Rung 2 Curated

Your own collection page — story hours, programs, curated lists, reading challenges.

Rung 3 Integrated

Live catalog. Provable proof: checkouts, first-time cards, visits.

Pins show hometowns only for now — each founding library’s name appears here with that library’s written permission.
